There are literally hundreds, upon hundreds of traffic exchanges out there with new ones popping up each day. So how do you know which ones to join? Well you can go through the tedious task of countless wasted hours spent clicking and clicking. Or you can take my word for it believe me I know, I know have been there! I have taken all of the guess work out of it and have compiled this list of which in my opinion are the top traffic exchanges / top start pages. So you don't have to waste your time!

Nowadays most of the newer exchanges offer something gimmicky to make you choose them over their competitors but when it comes down to it there are only a few important things to look for.

The First, that you want a in a traffic exchange is 1:1 ratio exchange or even a 2:1 which means that for every one or two sites you visit you get a visitor back in exchange. There are many 3:1, 4:1, even 5:1 exchanges which are not worth bothering with.

The Second thing you want is a REAL visitor to visit your site. The reason being if you are going to be clicking for visitors to your site you want other to do the same because believe it or not, there are people who cheat at traffic exchange sites using auto-surf programs to surf through the sites for them. (stay away from them) What you want is a traffic exchange with a very good anti-cheat mechanism.

Third of all, you need to look for exchanges which keeps visitors 20 to 30 seconds at the very least! Because otherwise there would be no point or even chance of making a sale. For sure using 10 to 15 seconds traffic exchange will rack up the credits but are you really paying any attention to the site? Probably not and neither is any one else for that matter. It is a fact if your page is heavy with graphics your page will not even load up in time to be seen on some of the 10 and 15 second exchanges.

Fourth of all stay away from auto-surfing exchanges all you get are hits and no one looking at your page. You start them up and forget about it. Couple of hours later after watching the game you come back and you have racked up a couple of hundred credits for watching TV. (You are lucky even if 5 people see your page.)

Fifth you want a traffic exchange which allows you to display your banners. And if possible, text links since these are often a better way of advertising through traffic exchanges than sending people directly to your pages.

Finally stay away from the traffic exchanges - start page exchanges that offer a large number of credits for new registrations (some offer 500+ to 2000 credits free to new users) I tend to see these as a complete waste of time for there are way too many sites in rotation and no one bothering to look at them!
